Board of Pensions funding for a Clergy Colleague Group in the presbytery
The Board of Pensions is pleased to invite you to submit a proposal for funding for a Clergy Colleague Group in our presbytery. These groups are a wonderful opportunity to strengthen your clergy community by helping pastors establish and maintain strong peer relationships. Stewardship Kaleidoscope event, March 12-14 
Registration for the 2012 Presbyterian Stewardship Kaleidoscope has opened. You may register online. Paper registration forms have been mailed to all presbytery and synod offices. Download the electronic brochure and registration form.  Note the valuable and useful workshops available.

Transformation Workshop, ‘The Power of Purpose,’ Feb. 11
Anthony Robinson returns to Cascades Presbytery to lead a workshop on Saturday, February 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, WA. Flyer and Registration Form and Online registration.
 
Lay Institute addresses Polity Questions, Feb. 17-18
“Polity Questions for the Local Congregation in Light of the New Form of Government” will be led by Stated Clerk, Cathy Quackenbush at the February 17-18 Lay Institute, beginning Friday at noon and ending about 4 p.m. on Saturday.  Lay flyer
 
Cynthia Campbell and Fred Holper to keynote 2012 Leadership Fair, Feb. 25
The Rev. Drs. Cynthia Campbell and J. Frederick “Fred” Holper are slated to give the keynote address, “Preaching What you Practice,” at the Cascades Leadership Fair at First Presbyterian, Portland, on Saturday, February 25, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. In addition to the keynote, they will each offer workshops in the afternoon that will develop the theme. Register by February 10.

Educator’s Event features Candace Hill, April 17-18
“Family Education and the Contemporary Church” is the theme of this year’s conference for church educators. Register by April 3. Information and registration.
 
Pulpit Exchange set for April 22
All congregations in Cascades Presbytery are invited to participate in the fifth pulpit exchange on April 22.  Those who participated in previous years reported very positive experiences.  The Relational Support Committee hopes your congregation will take part this year.   • The Rev. Adam Walker Cleaveland’s installation is Sunday, January 22 at 3 p.m. as associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Ashland.
Ministering to those making end of life health care decisions, Feb. 4 or 11
Clergy and church professionals are invited to a workshop with Gretchen Brauer-Rieke on February 4 or 11 in Portland. Brochure.
 
‘Global Warming’ National Preach-In and Teach-In, Feb. 10-12
Interfaith Power & Light is inviting faith leaders to give a sermon or lead a
reflection on global warming during the National Preach-In and Teach-In 2012, February 10-12. Some congregations will host film screenings and discussions. Others will run scripture study or youth activities around the topic of global warming. More information.
 
‘Bread and Wine: A Lenten Journey’ at Menucha, Feb. 10-12
No time to plan a retreat for your congregation? Consider coming to Menucha as a group to “Bread & Wine: A Lenten Journey,” Friday–Sunday, February 10-12.  Prepare for Lent and draw closer in community by making bread together in Menucha’s kitchen, traveling to Hood River area wineries for tastings, worshipping together and more: Lenten Journey.
 
Earth Care Summit: Environmental Justice and Faith, Jan. 30
Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon invites all congregations striving to care for creation and our communities to learn, share, and be inspired at the third annual Earth Care Summit on January 30, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Highland Christian Center, 7600 NE Glisan St., Portland. New information.
 
Leadership and Confirmation camp retreats for youth, Mar. 9-11
Presbytery camp opportunities for youth and youth groups are at Suttle Lake Camp March 9-11. The Leadership Retreat is for high school students and offers training for staff positions in summer camps.  Confirmation Retreat offers a program for churches to bring confirmation classes for a retreat with other youth groups. Preview spring curriculum in Resource Center
Spring 2012 Presbyterian curriculum is now in the Resource Center and is available to be previewed. For adults - Being Reformed: Faith Seeking Understanding series; for Youth - Faith Questions mini-courses (four or six sessions), and for Elementary and Preschool - We Believe. This is a well thought out curriculum.
