Today the kids learned two words from Dianne as she explained how we have our own individuality and our own uniqueness. Downstairs as I gathered our wonderful 7 kids together, I remembered a joke and had to share it with them. First of all, we spoke of uniqueness and how we are all so very different and so very special to God. Then I asked them how you catch a rabbit, the answer is unique up on it. Braeden then asked me how to catch a tame rabbit and I didn’t know, he responded,
”the tame way, unique up on it.” That started our day in such a good mood and my heart brims with happiness over each of these unique students.
Preston, Gretchen, Lilye, Angelique, Sarah and Phoenix who is 3 joined around the table and we spoke of many things. We had a poem today about Sunshine Mountain and they enjoyed hearing
the part of it that says, “Turn, turn from sin and sorrow, look to God on high and climb, climb up sunshine mountain, you and I.”
Then I read the story of Jesus taking Peter, James and John up on a high mountain. When they were alone on the mountain, Jesus’ appearance began to change and his clothes became dazzling white.
The story is found in Mark 9:2-4. As the kids worked on the memory verse for today, the also painted some suncatchers to take home, one was to remind them of Easter and the other was an angel. I wasn’t sure if Preston and Braeden would enjoy that craft but they did just fine and an excellent job of painting. They also had a decoder puzzle and find a word puzzle with the scripture of the day. The shortened memory verse was from Mark 9:7 “This is my son, the beloved, listen to Him.”
Our day ended with a bit of excitement as Braeden pulled his tooth, I think he said it’s the l6th one he has lost (not actually lost as this tooth was wrapped up in paper to take home). When Rich came down, we were still at our table and he remarked, “”Mary you must be so happy with these kids.” As Rex used to proclaim, Amen.
