THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 73-75 Psalm 73-75 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 73:16-17 16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me. 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end. I live in an area with lots of bugs. Nothing is more annoying that driving with a windshield covered with BUGS! When I stop long enough to wash the windshield it is amazing how much “clearer” things look. You might say the Psalmist had bugs on his windshield. The way of the wicked and their seeming prosperity messed up his vision. At one point he says, “Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain and washed my hands in innocence.” He felt that all the “Godly” things he had been doing were useless…of no value. He felt this frustration until he entered the Sanctuary of God, “16 When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me. 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.” You know this one of the great benefits of going to God’s house. It’s amazing how a meeting with God changes our perspective on life. The Psalmist saw the end game for the prosperous and the wicked and it wasn’t good. The outcome of their life of evil was going to be BAD! Its amazing how one little meeting…with God…can be so powerful. Meet with HIM! Meet with HIM often!! Meet with HIM today!!! Meet with HIM now!!!! Father, how I earnestly and desperately desire to meet with YOU. You are my everything…my reason for living. When life is overwhelming bring clarity. When life is filled with doubt bring certainty. When life is hard bring YOUR comfort…I need YOU…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William

THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 70-72 Psalm 70-72 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 71:16 16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Star Wars made popular a saying, “The force be with you.” The force was supposed to help Luke fight his battles. That’s Hollywood. The strength of God be with YOU! That’s the Bible…God’s Holy Word! The Psalmist said, “I will go in the strength of the Lord God, I will make mention of Your righteousness.” The Psalmist understood something crucial for our walk in this world…God is the ONLY strength we need in life…there is no strength apart from HIM. The strength of God be with you in your sorrows of today. Somewhere somehow sorrow will speak a powerful word in your life…God’s strength be with you. The strength of God be with you in your labor of today. The work may be heavy. The load may be more than you can bear. Trust HIS strength. Ask Him, “Strengthen my hand in my labor today.” The strength of God be with you in your joy of today. The room next to me as I type these words is filled with joy. Joy in the lives of 4 toddlers. I know today somewhere along the way JOY is going to touch your life. Give Him thanks for that joy. The strength of God be with you in your sharing today. The Psalmist said, “I will make mention of Your righteousness.” Don’t forget to make mention of God’s goodness…grace…mercy…love…as you live this day. The strength of God be with YOU! Father, be the strength of our heart today. No matter what we face help us. Strengthen us to speak Your goodness…grace…love…mercy in all we do and say…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Psalm 67-69 Psalm 67-69 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 69:5 5 O God, You know my foolishness; And my sins are not hidden from You. I know you have heard the statement, “Keep your thoughts to yourself.” Thoughts like…that is really an ugly suit. That dress out to be thrown in the garbage…I can’t believe they wore that to church. Will this preacher ever shut up so we can go home? That kid is irritating me to death they should never allow children in church. Wouldn’t it be interesting if all our “secret” thoughts were miraculously displayed on the screen in front of the church? All of us have foolish and sinful thoughts and desires racing through our mind and body. After all the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Roman 3:23 The Psalmist said, “O God, You know my foolishness, and my sins are not hidden from You.” Since God knows our foolishness and our sins are not hidden from Him we must avoid denial. We can’t deny that we say and do and act and live in ways that dishonor HIM. Since God knows our foolishness and our sins are not hidden from HIM we must courageously embrace the shame that should rack our body. If we feel shame for what we have done wrong then we are where God can do HIS work in us. Since God knows our foolishness and our sins are not hidden from HIM we must in brokenness and contriteness confess to God that sin. Confession isn’t telling God about our sin…HE already knows. Confession is agreeing with God about our sin. Father, I agree with You that selfishness and sinfulness is my downfall…forgive me through the blood of Your Son Jesus…wash me and I will be clean…restore my broken spirit…In Jesus Name…Amen!!! Psalm 64-66 Psalm 64-66 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 66:5 5 Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. I am building a desk for my Church Office. I really like the design and the number of drawers that I am going to have in this desk. I am working really hard to get it finished complete with a varnish so that I can show off the labor of my hands. I think it really going to work well for me and look nice at the same time. I can’t wait to show it to others. The work of my hands is inferior to the WORK OF HIS HANDS. The Psalmist invites people, “Come and see the works of God, HE is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men.” A glorious sunrise shows the awesome works of God. An incredible sunset displays the mighty works of God. A beautiful rainbow reminds us that God is still in control. Clouds shaped and fashioned by HIS hands remind us that He is above everything. The beauty of a new born baby tells us that HE is the author of life. Come and see the works of God…HE is awesome in HIS doing toward the sons of men. LORD…You are awesome in Your works…I praise YOU for all you do for us and in us and through us…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!! Blessings Brother William THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 61-63 Psalm 61-63 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 62:8 8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. There is literally a plethora of “self help” books lining the shelves of bookstores across this nation. There is enough “self help” advice to “cure” us of any physical, mental, social and spiritual ailment. But what do you do when you can’t find a “self help” book to help with a problem? The Psalmist challenges us, “Trust in HIM at all times, you people; pour out your heart before HIM, God is a refuge for us.” Trust HIM at all times by TURNING toward Him no matter the trouble. Yesterday I was working in my shop and lost a router bit…a saw tool…I practice turning toward HIM. I said, “Father You know where that router bit is…I don’t.” Five minutes later I found it in its box. Trust HIM at all times by REMEMBERING that HE is more powerful than any circumstance you will ever face. There is no mountain that God can’t climb and no mountain that HE can’t give us the power to climb. Trust HIM at all times by UNDERSTANDING our limitations. It’s ok to say, “I am weak and I need You LORD.” Trust HIM at all times by SEEKING Him first in everything. We ought to be a people who pray first! Trust HIM at all times by TRUSTING in faith that HE will always do what HE says He will do. God is faithful and will never abandon HIS people. TRUST Him at all times you people! O God, I trust You for life and breathe and strength and food and every thing I need in life. I can’t live without You for in You I have all my life. …In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Psalm 58-60 Psalm 58-60 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 59:3 11 Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless. I am a fixer by nature. If someone comes to me with a problem my mind immediately searches for the solution to their problem. Nothing is more frustrating for me than to be unable to find the solution they need. David said, “Give us help from trouble…for the help of man is useless.” What the doctor can’t do for an illness…the great physician can heal with great grace and power. What the politician can’t do through policy and legislation…God, the righteous King can do through HIS power over the universe. What the entertainer’s can’t do through the silver screen…God can do through changing our heart and mind. What the armies can’t do through vast war fighting technology…God can do through one protecting angel. What WE can’t do with our limited resources…God can do with a whisper of HIS breathe. Father, we are encamped about with the enemy…his wicked darts seem to be hurled from all directions…we trust YOU to protect us and to remind us that YOU are in control…help us be strong and faithful and true…and should we fall down please pick us up in YOUR mercy, love and grace…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 55-57 Psalm 55-57 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 55:22 22 Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. What burden is weighing your down today? What burden wearies your shoulders with its heavy load? What burden seems to never stop pressing on your life? What burden is robbing you of joy and peace and health? What burden is taking it toll on your body from your head to your toe? What burden is making life miserable? What burden??????? Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. COMMAND… Cast your burden on the LORD. Not a choice in life. This is a wonderful command that we must obey. COMMAND…WITH A PROMISE Cast your burden on the LORD and HE shall sustain you. What an amazing promise that God will sustain those us in tough times. COMMAND…WITH A PROMISE…THAT IS SURE. Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. In a day where you can’t count on many other…YOU CAN COUNT ON GOD!!! Lord, help us to cast our burden upon YOU…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 52-54 Psalm 52-54 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 53:2 2 God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Remote control robots are doing much of the heavy work involved in plugging the leak in the Gulf. According to reports each robot is operated by a highly skilled pilot sitting in front of multiple screens. Certainly the robot is equipped with video so that they can see as best as they can what is happening ONE MILE below the surface of the ocean. It is hard for me to imagine the ability to work…to see…to do anything one mile below the surface of the ocean. “God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.”, Psalm 53:2 Without the aid of a deep sea robot…video camera…highly trained pilot…God sees every person down here on this earth. He knows who is seeking Him and He knows who isn’t seeking Him. I am about to enter my day filled with activity and business. How many times today will I seek the face and the heart of God? Will I seek His face during a crisis? Will I yearn for Him during a moment of temptation? Will I call out to Him in gratitude for a blessing that comes my way? He knows when I seek Him and He knows when I RUSH through the day too busy to call upon HIS name and ask Him for help. And HE doesn’t even need a robot to see those things in our life…HE KNOWS!!! Lord, I trust YOU with all my life…I need YOUR help and YOUR strength all the days of my life…I can’t breath without YOU…I can’t walk without YOUR guiding hand…I can’t think without YOUR wisdom filling me…O GOD fill me with YOURSELF…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Psalm 49-51 Psalm 49-51 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 51:12 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. How do you feel when you intentional sin against God? How do you feel when you violate a clear commandment of God’s Word? How does it feel after a “binge of unholiness” when God really desired His best for us? David gives us a glimpse at the impact of sin in our life. David, the Psalmist had been confronted with his failure with Bathsheba. His response was brokenness, repentance and a powerful admission, “Against YOU, You only, have I sinned.” Then he implored the Father, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation…” The price of this his sin was the misery of the guilt and pain that came with his decision to violate God’s standard. The price of sin is high. Sin always promises more than it can deliver and costs more than we could ever pay. The price of David’s sin was the joy of His relationship with the Father. He didn’t feel that joy. His song was subdued. His joy was gone. The price of our sin is high. I know there are people whose shame is keeping them from God. In deep remorse God child can cry out, “Restore to me the Joy of Your salvation”. That is a cry God will always hear. He never ignores the remorseful, repentant cry of His own. It will be painful…it should be painful…it must be painful because the price of our sin is the precious blood of Jesus Christ our Savior. Lord, my heart hurts when I consider how and when and where I have broken Your will for my life…restore to me the joy of knowing You and serving You and help me live for YOU…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Psalm 46-48 Psalm 46-48 (Click to read Today’s Word) Psalm 48:1 1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain. Muhammad Ali always boasted, “I am the greatest.” Hmmmmmm…Muhammad I have news for you…you are aren’t the greatest. The Psalmist declares, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain.” Doesn’t need much explanation…’GREAT IS THE LORD”! He is Great because He is GOOD. God is the ultimate good. Any “good” we see in life is dwarfed by the goodness of a Holy God. He is Great because He is RIGHTEOUS. God had and will always do what is right by his people. We have heard in recent day promises by BP to do “right” by those affected by the oil spill. The only reason they are making that promise is they have not been doing “right” all along. God always does right by HIS people and doesn’t have to go on a national media campaign to prove himself. He is Great because HE is ETERNAL. In the beginning…GOD! He is also the Alpha and the Omega…the beginning and the end. He is Great because HE is AVAILABLE. God is never absent from HIS people. He is omnipresent…everywhere at all times. He is Great because HE is TRUTH. Jesus said, “ I am the way…the TRUTH…and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.” John 14:6 We serve a GREAT GOD!!! To HIM be all glory and praise. Lord, You are great…there is no one like You…AMEN!!! Let’s praise HIS Greatness…YouTube - Chris Tomlin - How Great Is Our God Blessings Brother William |
