THE WORD FOR TODAY
2 Kings 7-9
2 Kings 7-9
2 Kings 7:9 9 Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king’s household.”
Good News must be shared!!!
Four lepers, outcasts of society would be the bearers of good news for Israel. They were going to surrender to Syrian army because they were starving. Yet when they arrived at the Syrian camp it was abandoned. The Syrians had fled before the sound of a mighty army marching.
So the leprous men ate and had their fill. They began to take spoils from the camp and then they realized what they were doing was not right. These outcasts were touched by the plight of the king’s household so they went to tell the king the good news. How many times had their needs been ignored in life…now they were bringing hope to a nation?
Jesus lived, died on the Cross for our transgressions, buried in a borrowed grave and on the 3rd Day He Rose again making possible eternal life for all who believe. We, who have sat at the table of our Lord and feasted on the riches of His grace, have something to share with a hurting world. Just like the four lepers who shared the good news of the Syrians fleeing we are to share the simple but life changing news about Jesus.
So let’s come to heart of the matter…
Whom have you told about Jesus? When is the last time you shared God’s love through His Son with someone in need? Have you out of gratitude for the Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord pointed a lost and hurting soul to Jesus?
May it be today! May the Lord open our eyes to see the hurts and needs of a world dying from bad news! May He fill our mouths with sounds of praise and gratitude that causes other’s to hear and draw them to faith in Christ. May we never be silent for HIM because He was not silent for us when He said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
Lord, we are not doing right when we are silent…give us eyes to see…hearts to care…and the word of LOVE from Christ to share this day…in Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
