THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Samuel 1-3
1 Samuel 1-3
1 Samuel 1:12-13 12 And it happened, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli watched her mouth. 13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
Sometime we can’t pray out loud. Sometimes the pain of life is SOOOO burdensome that we can’t speak our hearts desire in an audible voice.
Life can silence our prayer…but it doesn’t have to stop our praying!!!
Hannah wanted a child in worse way. She knew her husband, Elkanah loved her, but there was still that empty void. She couldn’t hear the cry of her child. She couldn’t experience joy of cuddling with her baby. She was the joke of parties in that day because she was without child.
And then she entered the sanctuary of God with intense desire. As she talked with God only her lips moved but her voice was not heard…except by God.
I love it that HE hears us before we can ever speak a word. He hears our prayer the moment the tears start to form. He knows our hearts desire before that desire can ever silence our tongue. Sometime we don’t know what to pray. At times we don’t how to say what our heart is hurting. That is when God is at His best. Paul spoke to this in Romans when he encourages us, “Spirit makes intercession with groanings which cannot be uttered.” That’s what God does…HE hears His children cry to HIM!!!
Father, I love YOU because YOU hear my cry…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
