THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Samuel 10-12
1 Samuel 10-12
1 Samuel 10:19 19 But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us!’ Now therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans.”
Humanity has spent most of its existence rejecting its creator…God. From Adam and Eve in Paradise to the Israelites in Samuel’s day to busy, distracted and stubborn people today God has been rejected.
Israel rejected God by demanding that a king be set over them. They wanted to be like other nations. Even though God had saved them on numerous occasions they still wanted a king. Even thought their adversities had been handled by the Master they still wanted a king.
I can’t point my finger in accusation at them. Even though Jesus is LORD of my life I find myself in a soul spinning battle against other “things” wanting to be LORD over me. Sometimes I say, “NO.” Other times I say, “YES.” I want to have the will to say “NO” all of the time yet I don’t.
Let’s make our desperate desire today…because that is all we have…let’s make our desire to trust our LORD with our life. Let’s look to HIM for strength…guidance…protection…and more for this crazy day that lies before us. And perhaps, at days end our life will show forth the fruits of trusting HIM.
Father, change my heart oh God, make it ever true, change my heart oh God may I trust You with all day long…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
