THE WORD FOR TODAY
2 Kings 16-18
2 King 16-18
2 Kings 18:33b-35 But do not listen to Hezekiah, lest he persuade you, saying, “The LORD will deliver us.” 33 Has any of the gods of the nations at all delivered its land from the hand of the king of Assyria? 34 Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim and Hena and Ivah? Indeed, have they delivered Samaria from my hand? 35 Who among all the gods of the lands have delivered their countries from my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem from my hand?’”
We taught our children a powerful little prayer, “God is great…God is good…let us thank Him for our food.”
God is great and God is good.
The Rabshakeh, a representative of the king of Assyria didn’t believe in God. He challenged people to refuse to listen to Hezekiah and believe God. He stated that none of the gods of the nations all delivered its land from the king of Assyria…so how could The LORD deliver His people?
I wonder what Mr. Rabshakey was thinking when God showed up. HE sent His angel and killed 185,000 Assyrian troops.
There is no other god than the LORD our GOD. He can deliver us from anything. HE can do miracles in our life that we never dreamed or imagined possible. HE provides for our needs…HE defeated death for us through the resurrection of HIS only son…JESUS our LORD. There is nothing our God cannot do. O what a great GOD who loves us.
Lord, I give YOU my heart…all of it…strengthen me to walk with YOU all the days of my life…in Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
