Proverbs 19:27 27 Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge.
I am learning, after many frustrating years, to read instructions. That’s right…tructions. You know those “instructions” that come in the box with a new product…those words of wisdom written on the back of a bottle of medicine. How many times have I been frustrated because I thought I could put that children’s toy together but then read the instructions to find I was doing it all wrong.
Proverbs warns, “Cease listening to instruction, my son, And you will stray from the words of knowledge.” How many lives are ruined because “they ceased listening to instruction”?
The “younolder”…hahahaha…I get the more I realize how important instructions are to my life. The greatest source of instruction for me is the Bible. There isn’t a day I don’t learn something amazing from God’s Word. Each day I read and heed HIS Word for my life I can feel my legs getting stronger for service to HIM. Every ime I read the Bible through from Genesis to Revelation I realize how much I missed and I want to start over again. Every time I read my favorite Bible stories I discover another golden nugget of truth that gives me knowledge.
The instruction so desperately needed for life is why I send this devotion Monday through Friday. The instruction so desperately needed for life is why I include a link for the three chapters of God’s Word available for you to read. I know there is always going to be something great in God’s Word. That is why I turn and return to it day after day of my life.
I don’t want to wake up one day and find myself lost in the maze of human wisdom and insight when Godly wisdom and insight was on the corner of my desk. I don’t want to stray from the words of knowledge.
Father, guide me in the path of knowledge from YOUR Word…In Jesus Name…AMEN!
