THE WORD FOR TODAY
Ecclesiastes 4-6 Ecclesiastes 4-6 - Passage Lookup - New King James Version - BibleGateway.com (Click to read Today’s Word) Ecclesiastes 4:12 12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. The United States Navy introduced me to the concept of a liberty buddy. With a liberty buddy, someone to go on liberty with you, you couldn’t go on liberty in foreign ports. They felt that a liberty buddy protected a Sailor from others and sometimes themselves. Sure enough many times a Sailor’s liberty buddy kept them from getting into trouble. A very smart man knew that two are better than one, “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 I want to introduce a little twist on the liberty buddy…LIFE BUDDY. LIFE BUDDY is a trusted person in our life that provides accountability, counsel, friendship, encouragement and more as we walk through this life. A LIFE BUDDY is not going to enable bad behavior but rather is going kept us walking with Christ. A LIFE BUDDY is not going to be a partner in crime but is a voice that protects us from ourselves. You know The Long Ranger wasn’t really alone. He had Tonto. He had Silver. Batman had Robin. Superman always had someone take the kryptonite away. The truth is we need someone who is a friend that has our best interests at heart. Certainly my wife is my LIFE BUDDY. She is so important to me. But I also have some very trusted people that I keep contact with who hold me accountable to my walk with Christ and my call to serve. They are friends whose care for me is deep and meaningful. Their encouragement through the years has been and is my strength. They are that second and third and fourth cord in the rope of my life. I pray that you have a LIFE BUDDY. If you are woman I pray that you have another Godly woman to be your life buddy. If you are a man I pray that you have another man to be your life buddy. I know the strength that comes with a friend at my side…I want that for you. Father, thank You for my friends whose strength and support are so important…but thank YOU even more for my Friend…my Savior…my Peace…Jesus…In Jesus Name…AMEN! Blessings Brother William
