THE WORD FOR TODAY
Malachi 1:6 6 “ A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’
God’s should strive to HONOR God every moment of their life.
One of the lasting lessons from my military days is the rendering of honors. You always rendered honor to someone senior to you. You saluted them if you met them on a sidewalk. You responded Yes Sir and No Sir and Yes Maam and No Maam. Rendering honors and proper respect has in reality been ingrained in me from my mom and dad. So rendering proper military honors was much easier.
God’s people were not honoring HIM. They were bringing contemptible and unacceptable sacrifices. They were polluting their worship with things that were wrong. They were not honoring God the best of their flock.
As HIS chosen people we have the awesome privilege to HONOR Him.
We HONOR God with Holy speech. No I am not just talking about using God language. We honor HIM when the language of our lips represents the love of Christ living in us. It just goes to reason then that gossip…slander…backbiting…criticism…isn’t very honoring.
We HONOR God with Holy hands. Have our hands done anything that dishonors HIS name? Have we used them to pick the phone to gossip? Have we used them to drive dangerous excessive speeds? Have we used them to point our finger in false accusation.
We HONOR God with Holy feet. Do we walk the way we are supposed to walk?
We HONOR God with Holy effort. God deserves our VERY BEST! He deserves more than the last moments of our day. God is worthy of our very best work…worship…words…walk…witness and more.
GOD’S PEOPLE SHOULD STRIVE TO HONOR HIM EVERY MOMENT OF THEIR LIFE.
Father, strengthen me so that I may honor YOU with the very best of my life…forgive my dishonor and show how I can HONO YOU…IN JESUS NAME…AMEN!!!
