Truth for Today
Hosea 7:2 They do not consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness; now their own deeds have surrounded them; they are before My face.
Mules are stubborn. For some reason when a mule decides he doesn’t want to move…he ain’t gonna move.
It is sad when people are that stubborn…especially regarding the sin in their life. As He continued to talk about the lack of repentance in the life of Israel, God through Hosea reminds us that He knew the sin of His people but that they lived as if God didn’t and probably wouldn’t remember their wickedness. But their deeds “surrounded them” and they were before God. He saw their deeds and there was no more hiding them.
I have seen people so stubborn about their sin that the last thing they would ever do is acknowledge their wrong and turn toward God. Not long afterward their life becomes like all of the sin they gather around them. They begin to wear in their body and their language the sins they commit.
I have been stubborn about my sin. It’s so easy to be incredibly stubborn in our refusing to turn away from sin. It ought not to be that way.
We don’t have to live that way. We don’t have to be stubborn about our sin. We can always turn to HIM and acknowledge our sin. 1 John 1:9 declares that He (God) is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness…all we have to do is confess to Him our sin.
Avoid the rut of stubborn refusal to acknowledge your sin…turn to Him…let Him shower you with grace and mercy and peace.
Father, in your faithfulness to us…draw us close to you…may we always be willing to confess our sins to you and receive the joy of forgiveness found through YOUR grace and mercy…IN JESUS NAME…AMEN!!!
