Truth for Today
Ezekiel 28:31 “Son man set you face toward…”
All of us have an angry face. People who have seen my “angry face” have remarked later, “We don’t ever want to see you like that again.” Well my angry face and your angry face is nothing. If you have read Ezekiel chapter 21-32 you have seen God’s angry face.
Nation after nation is mentioned in these chapters. Each one’s sins and rebellions were condemned. God told the prophet on several occasions to set his face on that particular nation. He was to proclaim God’s message to them no matter how harsh the message. God was angry with some folks.
Rebellion, idolatry, adultery, covetousness and so much more brings about the anger of God. He sees that in the lives of people and it provokes Him. From His throne He sees the works of man and I know it makes Him angry. Thus we know from scripture that “in the fullness of time God sent forth His Son, born of a virgin, born under the law to redeem those under the law”.
Every time I think of the cross…the pain…the agony…the LOVE that poured down for us I just get filled with gratitude that God’s face is not set against us in anger. His face wasn’t set against us…but it was set toward what He knew would be pain and suffering and rejection and ultimately a cruel cross. He knew a price had to be paid for our sin. He knew the Father demanded a price for the wickedness of mankind. So He took on Himself that angry look from the Father along with all the pain and suffering.
Loving Father, set your face of mercy and grace toward us…show your compassion through the Cross of Christ and help us to live for you…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
