Truth for Today
Ezekiel 34:11 For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.”
I know you heart this statement, “Well somebody has to do it so I guess it’s up to me.”.
That is what I think of when I read Ezekiel 34. God had given the stewardship of the sheep of Israel to the prophets. They were not doing their job. They were causing more problems than they were solving. I was told many years ago, “Don’t bring problems to the Commanding Officer, bring solutions.” The prophets in Ezekiel’s day were creating problems not solving them. The sheep were scattered and being devoured by preying animals.
God said, “Fine, you won’t take care of My, sheep I am gonna do it.” This is Milam’s revised vernacular version. But it’s true, He was going to search for His sheep and seek them out.
I remember the words of Jesus, “I am the good shepherd.” You know it’s a wonderful thing to know a good shepherd when you have lived around nothing but bad shepherds.
As our good shepherd we can rest assured that He is going to take better care of us than anyone else. He is concerned with our pain. He is moved by our problems. He comes to our side when things are tough encouraging us to never quit. In fact, He has come to, “Seek and to save that which is lost.”
I am so grateful for our GOOD SHEPHERD.
Lord, you are our good shepherd. You guard and guide and help us even when we don’t ask. We trust in your watch care and commit our life to your purpose…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
