Truth for Today
Ezekiel 43:10 "Son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their sins. Let them consider the plan,
The most tears I have shed in my life have not been over the graves of people I loved…my greatest tears have been over my sin. Yes it’s time we all come to a place where we are “ashamed of our sins”. We should weep over and be ashamed of our sin.
God wanted Ezekiel to describe the amazing vision He had just given him. That description was to cause the people of God to be “ashamed of their sin”. But they were not ashamed of their idolatry and unfaithfulness to God. In fact…pride had filled their heart.
The tragedy of life is when we are not ashamed of our sin. Someone once said, “When our sins no longer cause us to blush…then we are in trouble.” Godly shame…shame that brings deep remorse and repentance is what we need. We can no longer afford to excuse and cover up our sin. We must come face to face with the reality of our sin and then repent and return to God.
If sin is grieving your heart…then that is good. It means that your heart isn’t calloused to sin’s impact. It means that God can take that shame and make us into vessels for HIS honor and for HIS grace.
O God…I am a sinner…forgive me I pray…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
