Truth for Today
Jeremiah 46:28 28 Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,” says the LORD, “For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished.”
I have received lots of correction over the years. My mom was really gifted at correcting my mistakes. A few of my teachers over the years exacted their stern correction. And you know…I am the better for that correction.
In midst of harsh judgment against nations God makes a promise to His people, “I am with you…” He then says, “I will rightly correct you.”
All of us need “right correction” from time to time. We should never resent that good word to steer us the right way.
Correction is intended to make us better…it for our benefit. It’s easy to resent correction feeling that it is unjustified. Often hind sight teaches us that we were wrong and OH how much pain we could have avoided had we only listened.
God is in the business of correcting HIS people. And certainly we should always be willing to receive that correction without resentment or anger. So the next time you feel God’s chastising spirit upon you…remember…HE only has mine and your welfare in HIS heart.
Father, thank You for Your guidance and for Your correction which is always right…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
