Truth for Today
Jeremiah 49:10 But I have made Esau bare; I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself. His descendants are plundered, His brethren and his neighbors, and he is no more.
Have you watched Dateline NBC’s, “To Catch A Predator”? This show is a sobering reminder that the power for evil in what is supposed a secret place is very real. Many of the men caught in their sin have attempted to create story after story to explain their behavior that is caught on hidden camera but to no avail.
Jeremiah was pronouncing judgment on nations. On Edom make something very clear, “But I have made Esau bare; I have uncovered his secret places.” They thought that their ways and words were secret. But God said, “And he shall not be able to hide himself.”
Here is the bottom line. The Father knows our business. I used to joking but seriously tell my kids, “I know everything you do. You can’t surprise me and you sure can’t hide anything” It sure hurt when I discovered that isn’t true. While I don’t know everything my children ever did…the Father does know everything we do and nothing is hidden from his sight. He knows our thoughts and intents. He knows what we do when we are alone. He knows the real reason we choose to do things. Nothing is hidden from His sight.
The challenge for us then is this; to live transparent and open lives in His presence. To stop playing the little “god” games we play and realize that we belong to GOD. So let’s get serious about who we are and whose we are. If we don’t He might make our private business His very public display of His anger.
Father, search my heart and show me that THING you want to cut from my life…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
