THE WORD FOR TODAY
Judges7:7 7 Then the LORD said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place.”
Gideon had his army ready. God said, “It’s too many.” Gideon sent over half the arm home. God said, “It’s too many.” Those remaining God had to drink water. He instructed Gideon to separate those who lapped at the water like a dog from those who got on their knees. The total size of the Army that would battle the Midianites, 300.
It would be easy to focus on the difference between those who drank water on their knees and those who lapped at the water like dogs. But that wasn’t really the lesson God wanted to impart to Gideon. He wanted Gideon to clearly understand that the victory he would grant over the Midianites was not from military might and strength…but from God’s power and might over any nation.
God is good at fighting out battles. He is good at dealing with our enemies. He is good at putting to shame those who deny His name. We must trust Him more than we trust our great numbers.
One Christian totally committed to Christ can accomplish great things. Three Christians united for service to Christ can do amazing things…with HIS power behind them.
I have a lot to do today…I can’t do these things in my own strength…I need Christ and I need His power. I am not alone am I?
Grant me power to live for You this day…help me walk in holiness…help me minister in Your Holy Name…when I enter the battlefield be with Lord Jesus…be with me…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
