THE WORD FOR TODAY
Judges 13:5 8 Then Manoah prayed to the LORD, and said, “O my Lord, please let the Man of God whom You sent come to us again and teach us what we shall do for the child who will be born.”
I remember when I was told that we would be having our first child. I was absolutely ecstatic. I was filled with joy. I was hyped with anticipation. Oh it was an exciting day. That joy was good…but there was one thing I didn’t do...at that time I didn’t go the Lord.
Manoah found out that he and his wife were going to have a son…after many years of hoping. But this news didn’t bring about immediate joy…it brought a prayer. Manoah prayed that the Lord would teach them the things they were supposed to do for the child who was to be born to them.
Manoah’s prayer was answered. God told him everything he needed to know and he followed that direction from God.
Parenting isn’t easy. It is important to seek the face of God for direction and wisdom no matter the age of our children. If we learn anything from this story we learn to ask God to teach us what we shall do the child who has been born. We learn to trust Him for wisdom and discernment. We lean on Him during times when the way is uncertain and unclear. Today…I go to the Lord constantly seeking Him for help as a parent and as a grand parent.
Lord, teach every parent who reads these words…teach them Your ways so they can raise their children under your nurture and your guidance…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
