THE WORD FOR TODAY
30 And you shall set the showbread on the table before Me always.
God desires to fellowship with HIS people.
One of the great joys of friendship is the sharing of things in common. We have common likes and dislikes. We enjoy common hobbies with our friends. We enjoy being with them…in their presence.
The Table for the Shewbread in the Tabernacle is really interesting.
Showbread” also was called “bread of the presence” because it was to always be in the Lord’s presence. The table and the bread picture God’s willingness to fellowship and commune (literally speaking, sharing something in common) with man. It was like an invitation to share a meal, an extension of friendship. Eating together often is an act of fellowship. God was willing for man to enter into His presence to fellowship with Him, and this invitation was always open.
I can’t help but think of the words of Jesus, “Come unto me…all ye that labor and are heavy laden…”. It is so neat to know that God…Who created everything…wants to share something in common with us and wants to give us rest from the burdens of life. It is awesome to consider that because we know HIM as Lord and Savior He is in us, with us, around us…all the time.
Let’s celebrate our blessing to be in the presence of the Holy One of Israel. Let’s rest in the assurance and hope that only HE can provide. Let’s never refuse His invitation to sup with HIM.
Lord, thank YOU for opening the way for us to be in YOUR presence…In Jesus Name...AMEN!!!
