THE WORD FOR TODAY
November 14, 2007 BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: Leviticus 1-3 Leviticus 3:1 “When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering, if he offers it of the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.” I know when I am at war with God. I know when I have offended Him. I am aware the second…no the millisecond I have stepped over the line. It is a sense we have inherited from Adam and Eve. They knew they had blow it and were “at odds” with God because they hid from Him. It is ingrained in us to desire well relationships. Now there are those who would say they have met folks that didn’t seem to care about relationship at all…but in the bottom of their heart they desire harmony with someone. The peace offering in Leviticus was offered after the burnt offering and the grain offering. It was offered when things were “right with God”. It’s purpose was to celebrate peace with God not to get it. It was to be a moment of joy. For me, the sacrifice of praise is my peace offering. I repent of my sin and ask God to forgive me…I then celebrate peace with Him. Some faith traditions have a time of confession built into their worship. After the time of confession they encounter God in praise. It is awesome to know that we can have peace with God! It is awesome to live with the knowledge that our sin is nailed to the Cross we bear it no more. That great hymn “It Is Well” is a testimony of the joy available for every believer. What is your peace offering? Mine is praise… Father, still our trouble spirit and call us to yourself…help to experience peace with you…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Bro. William
