THE WORD FOR TODAY
BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: Leviticus 4-6
Leviticus 4:2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments of the Lord in anything which ought not to be done, and does any of them…”
Have you ever done something wrong…sinned…and didn’t know you were sinning?
I know it sounds ridiculous but in reality that happens to us at one time or the other.
God addressed those “unintentional sins” with the institution of a sin offering. The sin offering, a young bull without blemish, was to be brought to the door of the tabernacle. There the priest had specific directions on offering the young bull as a sin offering.
Very few times in our life is our sin “unintentional”. A powerful lesson in this passage is that sin whether “intentional” or “unintentional” requires a price.
The next time you look at Calvary remember that all our sin, our intentional rebellion and our unintentional transgression has been paid…and paid in full.
I love the hymn we sing so often in Baptist life…”Jesus paid it all…all to Him I owe…” He was that perfect sacrifice for all our sin.
Father, Jesus Your only Son paid the full price for our sin…free us from the guilt and shame that attempts to invade our life through the power of your Holy Spirit…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
