Truth for Today
Hebrews 13:15 15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
Many of you have heard the song, “We bring the sacrifice of praise…into the house of the Lord…We bring the sacrifice of Praise into the house of the Lord. And we offer up to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving…and we offer up to You the sacrifices of joy.
But just what is the “sacrifice of praise” that Hebrews encourages us to sing?
The sacrifice of praise is our willingness to worship and adore the ever living God even when we don’t feel like it. Many years ago I buried my mother on a Wednesday before Mother’s Day. Standing and singing and praying that day was one of the most difficult moments of my life. The sacrifice of praise is praising HIM no matter the circumstances in our life.
The sacrifice of praise is going to church when you don’t feel like it. Every time I don’t feel like going to church…and go no matter what…when I get there and praise my God…something happens. The “not-so-good feeling” turns into strength, grace and power.
The sacrifice of praise is praising God even while others may mock or ridicule. Our life as Christians should be a life of courage in the face of the naysayer’s.
You know when you have lifted up the “sacrifice of praise”. You know it because you can feel the blessing that comes from praising HIM no matter what. So let us offer the God the sacrifice of praise from a grateful life and joyful lips.
Father, in Your presence I praise Your name for You are God and You love me so much. Fill me with Your mercy and cover me by Your GRACE…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
