THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 103-105 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Psalm 103:8 8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
If you have ever been angry say…”Amen!” If you have ever gotten angry really quickly say, “O’me!”
You know some auto makers advertise their car’s ability to go from 0 – 60 in a certain time. I have gone from 0 – Really ANGRY in the blink of an eye. Every time I have gotten that angry I lost control. It’s impossible to pick up the pieces when you have lost control.
I thank God that we serve a God who is not quick to angry. The Psalmist said, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, SLOW TO ANGER, and abounding in mercy.
Don’t you find it amazing that God is slow to anger? When He looks down from heaven He sees secret sin that we attempt hide from others. He looks down and sees blatant disregard for His Word. His gaze from heaven sees a church willing to compromise the truth of HIS Word to accommodate the ways of the world. As God looks down from heaven He sees the pride…arrogance…stubbornness…shamelessness…and yet HE is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Now let’s be honest. If you were in charge of creation and possessed the power to wipe your hand over your creation in complete destruction and start over…what would you do? Yet God is mercifully slow to anger and we are the better for His forbearance.
By the way…His mercy and slowness to anger is no excuse to tread on His holiness with continued ungodliness. His PATIENCE ought to spur us to a life of holiness and godliness guided by HIS Holy Presence.
Father, we are blessed with Your mercy and Your forbearance and Your longsuffering…may we return from our sinful ways and follow YOUR ways for our life…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
