It’s been said, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Words written on a page have a way of communicating in a powerful way. Just look to our text today.
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 136:1 This powerful Psalm will reveal that 26 times the words, “For His mercy endures forever.”, are repeated. They remind the reader that God is a God of mercy and for that they should be grateful.
Over the years I have learned something about Gods mercy.
God’s mercy Moves toward us. We have inherited a tendency to HIDE when we fail God. But He moves toward us as demonstrated by sending HIS Son Jesus to die for our sins. John 3:16
God’s mercy Embraces us fully. When the father of the prodigal son embrace…hugged…his wayward son we see that God embraces us the same way. Luke 15:20
God’s mercy Remembers His promises. After the flood in Genesis God placed a rainbow in the clouds a reminder that never again will He destroy the earth by water. Genesis 9:16
God’s mercy Comes in the midst of deepest failure. In deep pain David said in Psalm 51, “Have mercy on me O God.” Psalm 51:1
God’s mercy Yields the fruit of forgiveness. We are able to experience forgiveness when we confess our sins and in mercy God is faithful to forgive our sin. 1 John 1:9
Child of God, give thanks to the LORD for He is good…for HIS mercy endures forever!!!
Father, I praise You for Your mercy and Your grace…I lay my life in Your loving arms…fill me and help me…for my sins please…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
