Proverbs 1:10 10 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.
Studies seem to show that teens are having a difficult time with the “abstinence campaign”. The argument is that, “Just saying no isn’t working.”
JUST SAY, “NO!” is biblical.
The wisdom writer said, “My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.” My translation of this passage, “When sinners try to get you to fall just tell them, ‘NO!’”
We often think that the “SAY, ‘NO’!”, campaign is only for young folks. But there are plenty of the over 50 crowd below and beyond that could learn a lesson in, “SAY, ‘NO’!”.
SIN…the enticement to sin…the temptation to sin…the pull of sin…the pit of sin…is no respecter of age, culture, sex, occupation or social status. SIN speaks a powerful voice that only wants to destroy our lives. Picking up the pieces after falling to sin’s pull is never fun. It’s hard work. It brings tears of shame, regret, and remorse to our eyes. Just mustering the courage to go to church can be a mountain that seems impossible to climb. The fear that ‘EVERYBODY’ knows is real.
It never has to be this way. All we have to do is what the Bible tells us to do, “My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.”
JUST SAY, “NO!” still works…just try it!
Father, teach me the power of that wonderful word, “NO!”. Help me to follow Your prescription for a pure life… JUST SAY, “NO!”…I need Your help…lead me not into temptation my LORD…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
