Proverbs 4:23 23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
When I was 23 I though I was having a heart attack. The most incredible pain I had ever experienced hit me in the chest. I couldn’t breath. I couldn’t talk. I thought I was dying. I was rushed to the hospital. It turn out that I had acute indigestion. Hahahahahahahaha. Until the doctor told me that acute indigestion has induced heart attacks. I stopped laughing then.
The heart is important to our body. The heart is important to believers. The wisdom writer challenges us, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”
Keep our heart Holy to the Lord. Nothing hurts more than a heart filled with sinful thoughts and behavior.
Keep our heart Enthusiastic for God. A good measure of how enthusiastic our heart is for God is what we are willing to give up so that we can serve God. I don’t golf anymore because golf got in the way of me serving God.
Keep our heart Available to God. The heart has a way of wandering to the uttermost. Our song must be, “Here’s my heart Lord take and seal it.”
Keep our heart Righteous after God. God knows when we harbor things in our heart not fitting for the kingdom of God.
Keep our heart Tuned to God’s heart. We keep our heart tuned to God’s heart as we meditate on His Word. We keep our heart tuned to God’s heart as we seek HIS will.
Let’s keep our heart with all diligence for it is the well spring of life.
Father, guard my heart by YOUR awesome power…help me keep it for YOU and YOU alone…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
