THE WORD FOR TODAY
Ezra 1-3 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Ezra 3:13 11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.
I had a fellow Chaplain teach me the power of giving thanks. This guy was gifted with the word “thanks” and he was even more gifted with “giving thanks to God.” My life is still being shaped by the memories of Chaplain Flick teaching me to be ‘THANKFUL’ for all the good things God does.
Gratitude is a theme in today’s passage. The people had returned from captivity and were restoring the temple. During the process of rebuilding the temple the people paused for joy and celebration. They praised and gave thanks to the LORD, ““For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” God was good to them.
God is good to me. God is good to you. God is good to HIS church. Where is the sound of our gratitude? Where is the declaration of praise? Where is the celebration of HIS blessings? Let me give you the powerful opportunity to praise and give thanks to the LORD. I would love to read a reply from you about ONE blessing from God that causes your heart to be filled with praise and thanksgiving. Just click the reply button and let God know how grateful you are.
Lord YOU are good and YOUR mercy endures forever…from generation to generation YOU never change…summer, winter, spring and fall YOU never change…YOUR love and YOUR presence is all we need…In Jesus Name…Amen!!!
