THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalms 7-9 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Psalm 7:1 1 O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me.
In God We Trust. That is one of the songs in our upcoming Patriotic Cantata in our church. As the choir was practicing that song I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Is HE really my trust?”
The Psalmist made a personal declaration, “O Lord my God, in YOU I put my trust.” He was surrounded by enemies. Hardship was part of his daily life. Strife and struggle was real to him. Yet he didn’t give up because, “O Lord my God, in You I put my trust.”
Is HE really my trust?
The manner in which I spend my TIME shows whether HE is my trust. Every second of my life ought to bring honor and glory to HIM.
The manner in which I spend my RESOURCES shows whether HE is my trust. Someone once said, “The greatest indicator of our heart for God is our check book.”
The manner in which I spend my UNDESERVED mercy shows whether HE is my trust. It is so easy to take HIS mercy for granted. We repeat the same sin for which HE has shown mercy multitudes of times.
The manner in which I spend my SALVATION shows whether He is my trust. Because I am SAVED by HIS grace I sure ought to make sure that my WORK flows from the fact that HE saved me. Our salvation is not “fire insurance” so that we can keep on sinning. We are saved to spend the rest of our life serving HIM!
The manner in which I spend my TONGUE shows whether He is my trust. OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! Not the tongue. I love the prayer I heard someone pray, “May my words today be as sweet as honey because by nightfall I may have to eat them.”
O LORD my God, in You I put my trust!!!
