THE WORD FOR TODAY
Job 1-3 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Job 1:5 5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offeringsaccording to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.
“Bring up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it,” says Proverbs 22:6. If you are a Christian parent you hold firmly to this simple but powerful truth. We don’t want our children to depart from the way of the Lord.
Job had a desire to honor God that is to be admired. He was so concerned about his children that he offered early morning burnt offerings, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” The last thing Job wanted was the sin of cursing God in the lives of his children. I know he did this for them but he also did because of his great love for and reverence for God.
HONOR GOD ALWAYS! If I could start over with my children I would strive with every fiber of my being to teach them with my words and my life to “HONOR GOD ALWAYS!” Our speech should honor God…we should never ever curse Him. Our walk should honor God…it should never depart from HIS ways for our life. Our conduct should HONOR Him…for His eye is always watching us. Our relationships should HONOR Him…bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). Every breath of our life, every step of our feet, every sound of our tongue, every image in the eye, every fleeting thought…they all should strive to HONOR God.
Thank God for the sacrifice of HIS Son Jesus Christ our LORD because we have sinned and cursed God in our heart!
Father, it may be that we have sinned and cursed You in our heart…THANK YOU for JESUS our Savior…IN JESUS NAME…AMEN!!!
