Word of the DayTHE WORD FOR TODAY
2 Kings 22-25 2 King 22-25 2 Kings 22:4-7 “Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which has been brought into the house of the LORD, which the doorkeepers have gathered from the people. 5And let them deliver it into the hand of those doing the work, who are the overseers in the house of the LORD; let them give it to those who are in the house of the LORD doing the work, to repair the damages of the house— 6 to carpenters and builders and masons—and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house. 7 However there need be no accounting made with them of the money delivered into their hand, because they deal faithfully.” News headlines abound about government fraud waste and abuse. The stories about multi-thousand dollar flights and wasteful spending of American tax dollars are heartbreaking. It is even more heart breaking to hear of businesses and organizations who “cook the books” for their own personal gain. There is plenty of evidence that our country is in economic breakdown because of “Wall Street Greed”. Scripture gives us a different look. King Josiah was bringing reforms to his nation, one being the reparation of temple. They sent money to those responsible for the work and please don’t miss what they said, “However there need be no accounting made with them of the money delivered into their hand, because they deal faithfully.” Here is a good question to ask, “What I had stewardship of $7,000,000,000.00 dollars with no accounting, what would I do with the money?” Our answer to that question reveals something about our heart. Our answer to that question displays the depth of our ethics. The answer to that question reveals the power of greed in our life. Oh how we need a day when we “deal faithfully” in our work with other people. Most of us will never have stewardship of 7 million dollars. But, we have stewardship over other things just as important. Are we dealing faithfully with the stewardship given to us? Lord, live in me with Your power and help me to always to be found faithful with all that You give me…in Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William Comments are closed.
