Word of the DayTHE WORD FOR TODAY
Proverbs 10-12 Proverbs 10-12 - Passage Lookup - New King James Version - BibleGateway.com (Click to read Today’s Word) Proverbs 11:1 1 Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, But a just weight is His delight. Twice a year when I was in the Navy we had to “weigh in”. If our weight was within the allowed limits we had no problem. If it was outside the allowed limited our body fat was measured. I went to be weighed one day knowing that I was ten pounds over my weight limit. The Doctor’s office scales had told me so. My home scales had confirmed it. But when I stepped on those scales miraculously I was five pounds under my limit. But they were the “official” scales so I went my merry way. But those scales were wrong. What was even worse is that I was glad they were wrong. Shame on me! Proverbs 11:1, “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is HIS delight.” Dishonest scales were used by unscrupulous people to make things look like they weight more than they actually weighed. So if you bought 10 pounds of wheat in reality you only had 9 pounds. Dishonest businessmen did this all the time. The Father loves honesty in all of our dealings. The Bible says, “A just weight is HIS (the LORD) delight.” We never go wrong when we try to do the right thing. Today there is so much “cheating” in so many areas of life. Just consider testing in schools. High Schools and Colleges have to spend an incredible amount of effort to make sure students don’t get advance copies of tests so they can cheat. Every year some high school or college sports team gets in trouble for “cheating”. They break the rules by allowing ineligible players to participate in a game. TRUTH: Nothing good can ever come by cheating. HONESTY is the LORD’S delight. Father, show me every area of my life is dishonest to You…convict me by the power of Your Holy Spirit…In Jesus Name…AMEN!
