Isaiah 7:19 19 And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?
Many years ago I was facing a HUGE decision. I didn’t know what to do. Desperate for guidance I wished for a sign in the sky telling me what to do. I must confess that at my weakest moment I even thought about calling Miss Cleo (I think that was her name). Surely she could read my fortune over the phone. Then suddenly while I was at a gas station I heard the voice of God in a still small way. He gave me the guidance I needed in that moment and after a period of time I discovered that God knew what HE was doing.
Isaiah lived in a day where people sought mediums and wizards trying to seek counsel from the dead on behalf of the living. Isaiah asks a very interesting question, “Should not a people seek their God?” The answer is, “YES!” His people should seek their GOD.
This moment there are Christians who can’t wait to read their “horoscope”. There are those who profess the name of Christ who seek “Palm Readers” for guidance and direction in life. There are professing believers who place great emphasis on the “astrological signs”. Shame…shame…shame.
God, “Should not a people seek their God?” YES! HIS people should seek HIM. No matter how great the decision and no matter how tiny the decision we ought to ask, “God give me direction and guidance for this decision. What do YOU want me to do?”
Before I type a single word of this devotion I attempt to ask God guidance. Many times I ask, “God, what scripture do YOU want to speak to YOUR people about?” It is amazing to me how HE responds. Suddenly a blank page is filled with words.
God wants to guide and direct HIS own. He doesn’t’ want us trusting anything and anyone except HIM. HE knows what is best for us. He knows the pitfalls in our path of life. HE is more than capable and willing to help.
SHOULD NOT A PEOPLE SEEK THEIR GOD? YES!
Father, guide my life this day…YOU are my ONLY source direction in my walk…In Jesus Name…AMEN!
