Word of the DayTHE WORD FOR TODAY
2 Samuel 9-11 2 Samuel 9-11 2 Samuel 11:2 2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. Just one look…that’s all it took yeah just one look. Just one look…that’s all it took yeah just one look. Just ask King David the price of one look. At the time when kings go out to battle David sent someone else in his place. The quietness of his house caused him get up from his bed and go to his roof. From the roof he saw a woman bathing and the woman was very beautiful to behold. Just one look was all it took for David to walk the path of infidelity and murder. None of us is immune to that “one look”. When our eyes wander…its not long before our heart follows…then a message is sent to our feet and hands and we walk into sin…all because of “one look”. “One Look” is dangerous, deceptive and ultimately destructive. Yet we live in a world that conditions us to take one look. Every marketing department for major products will tell you, “Sex sells.” It causes us to take that one look that we ought not to take. Ask any person who has taken that “one look” and if they tell you the truth what they got from that “one look” was more pain and hardship than they could ever imagine. So how can we avoid that “one look”? One way is to live out God’s purpose for our life. David belonged in the battle field not at home. A second way is to heed the warning. His messengers told him, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” She was another man’s wife…that should have been enough. Finally, obey God’s commands. David broke more commandments from God than you can name in one minute. In those moments of lust he never considered one of those commands…not even “you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife”. Just one look…that’s all it take…just one look!!! Father, protect my eyes this day…guard my heart…guide my walk with You so that at the end of this day I may be found to be faithful…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
