Word of the DayTHE WORD FOR TODAY
2 Samuel 18-20 2 Samuel 18-20 2 Samuel 18:12 12 But the man said to Joab, “Though I were to receive a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, I would not raise my hand against the king’s son. For in our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, ‘Beware lest anyone touch the young man Absalom!’ Courage is the word for today. Courage is defined by Webster as, “Mental or moral strength to resist opposition, danger, or hardship, implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.” The Bible doesn’t even give this man a name except to indicate his courage. He stood up to Joab, a mighty military man. He refused to kill Absalom who was hanging a defenseless position. He did so because he had heard King David forbid anyone to take the life of his son Absalom. This unnamed man possessed the courage to tell a military leader, “NO!” Courage is the word for TODAY. Courage enables us to stand for what is right and just and pure, resisting evil and turning to the Lord. Courage is the ability to resist the winds of temptation and the call of the evil one. Courage calls us to speak rightly in the hearing unrighteous and unholy language. Courage demands that God’s calling upon our life be the most important priority. Courage is God’s strength to the weak and God’s power to the timid. Courage is the ingredient necessary for living, walking, serving, working, helping and loving in a crazy mixed up world. Courage grants us strength to face our own weaknesses and failures and fall broken before the Father who loves us. Courage is what we learn from a nameless man who stood up for what was right and just. Courage is the change we need in America! Father, fill us with Your power and strength so that we may be COURAGEOUS…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William Comments are closed.
