THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Chronicles 13-15
1 Chronicles 13-15
1 Chronicles 14:10 10 And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” The LORD said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
It’s important to ask God for guidance. Let’s learn from David.
Before David stepped into the battle field he stepped into the conference room for a meeting with God. His question, “Shall I go up against the Philistines?” He had already learned much more than Saul whom he succeeded as King of Israel. Rather than consult God, Saul consulted a medium for guidance. David loved God and sought His face.
It’s important to ask God for guidance when we are facing the enemy. The Philistines were a constant enemy for Israel. David couldn’t defeat them without God’s help.
It’s important to ask God for guidance when we are climbing a mountain. I love what someone said a long time ago, “The Mountain before you is never greater than the power behind you…if you are a Christian.” That is so true. As I reflect back on my life I have climbed several mountains…and I know HE was helping me.
It’s important to ask God for guidance when we are facing a mystery that seems unsolvable. God always knows what is coming next and He knows how to make the story unfold. So often we wring our hands with, “I don’t know what to do.” And God says, “Trust me…let me guide you.”
It’s important to ask God for guidance when we are fearful of the future. I love the words of Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
And just so we don’t miss it…
It’s important to WAIT on God to give us His guidance. God gave David clear direction, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
Lord, You promised us that Your thoughts for us were of peace and a future and hope…thank You for Your promises and thank You for YOUR guidance and direction in life…in Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
