THE WORD FOR TODAY
Job 40-42 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Job 42:12 12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
We are getting to all of the “season finales” with many of the popular television programs. Many of them will end with a cliff hanger that would cause the viewer to anticipate the first episode of the new year.
Job 42:12 isn’t Hollywood. Review the facts of Job’s loss: all his oxen, sheep, servants, all his sons and daughters. Don’t forget the physical impact on his life; painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. And remember the sound of “well meaning” FRIENDS who constantly chided and ridiculed him accusing him when he had done nothing to deserve this trauma in his life. For more than 40 chapters Job’s life was one of misery and pain.
Not to be a spoiler…but it is important to read the end of the book, “Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning…” I love the fact that God blessed JOB in such a wonderful way in the latter days of his life. It is incredible that in HIS justice God did right by Job.
God will always to do right by His people. Yes we suffer hard times. There may be moments of trial and tribulation. There will probably be days filled with no end in sight. But none of that means that God is absent. His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches you and me. God will always do the right thing no matter the price!
Father, thank YOU for Your righteousness toward Job…thank You for seeing into the heart of suffering man and for blessing his latter days more than his first. Some us may be in our “latter days” and in need of YOUR blessing Lord…we have walked through valley of loss…we have laid in the bed of suffering and now LORD we need YOU…like never before we need YOU Father…bless the latter days of our life as we seek YOUR face and YOUR heart our LORD…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
