​THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 4-6 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Psalm 4:1  Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distress;  Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
 
God is our relief in times of distress and trouble.
 
Rolaids' best known commercial from the 1970s featured the famous tag line: "How do you spell relief?" "R-O-L-A-I-D-S"
 
On occasion in the 1970's, when schoolchildren were asked to spell the word "relief", they would respond with "rolaids".  Certainly Rolaids does provide relief with indigestion.
 
Who are what provides "RELIEF" in times of distress?  Where is our help for "spiritual indigestion"?  Where can we turn for help when life is being unfair?
 
Psalm 4:1 makes a powerful statement, "Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distress...have mercy on me and hear my prayer."
 
The Psalmist rightly points us toward God when life has or is becoming "distressful".
 
Call on HIM...He heareth you.  Jeremiah 33:3 (God's Telephone Number:  JER 33:3), encourages us, "Call unto me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things thou knewest not."  
 
Trust HIS Word for YOU.  It is one thing to call upon the LORD.  We must also TRUST His word for us.
 
Wait on HIS clear guidance and direction.  I have found that when I intentionally wait upon the LORD I get a much better perspective and view on all that is happening in my life.  The other day I was driving to a destination I had never been to before.  I was watching my GPS and it looked like I needed to turn.  Well I turned to soon and had to be "redirected" back on the right route.  God is really good at guiding us...we just have to be faithful in following HIM.
 
He is our RELIEF when we call on HIM...when we trust HIM...when we allow HIM to guide and direct our life.
 
God is our relief in times of distress and trouble.
 
Lord, help me in my time of distress...relieve in my time of trouble...guide me by YOUR powerful right hand…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
