THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Chronicles 4-6
1 Chronicles 4-6
1 Chronicles 6:31 Now these are the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after the ark came to rest. 32 They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, and they served in their office according to their order.
Have you ever waked up on a Sunday morning just feeling like you didn’t want go anywhere…especially to church? But you felt the familiar pull to go to church regardless of how you felt. You get to church, the music service begins and wouldn’t you know they sang a song that reached deep into your heart. That “bad” feeling vanished like a morning fog because of that song. That is the power of song.
Music was important in Israel, so important that David appointed people whose job was simply to serve the Lord through music. God inhabits the praises of His people.
Let’s consider for a moment the power of a SONG in our life....
Song shares our feeling of love and adoration for God.
Song helps us overcome the burdens of life. As a college freshman in 1984 I was feeling overwhelmed by life until I heard the song, “Majesty”. That song removed those burdens and strengthened me for God’s work in my life.
Song never is ignored by God. HE inhabits the praises of His people.
Song gives hope when hope seems so dim. When life is dragging us into the pit of hopelessness nothing can lift a soul like the song, “I Can Only Imagine”.
What is your favorite song? I would love to hear which song is your favorite and how that song helps your Christian walk.
Lord, thank You for Song…but Lord thank YOU especially for the music you provide that fills the soul with hope and strength…in Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
