THE WORD FOR TODAY
Jeremiah 19-21 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Truth for Today
Jeremiah 20:10 “For I heard many mocking; “Fear on every side!” “Report,” they say, “and we will report it!” All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying, “Perhaps he can be induced; then we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”
The magnifying glass is an incredible gadget. I was attempting to read some really small words the other day and thought, “I wish I had a magnifying glass.” It would have been handy.
While a magnifying glass has it’s use…it isn’t any fun living under a magnifying glass. Places where you’re every flaw are there for the seeing or even people looking to make sure they see or discover your flaw. In my early years of ministry I worked as mechanic. All of the people with whom I worked knew I wanted to be a Pastor. I had scripture taped to my tool box. I was intent on living what I profess. The mechanic in the stall next to mine always gave me a hard time about being a Christian. I remember one day a wrench slipped, my hand hit the edge of the tractor. He heard it and asked, “What was that I heard? I know you said something.” It’s not easy under the microscope.
Jeremiah said, “All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling.” He can identify with us.
Life isn’t easy under the microscope…nor should it be. More is expected of us. To whom much is given much is required. Believers belong to their Savior and should live life differently. This is an opportunity for us to testify that HE has and is changing our life.
In the next verse Jeremiah says, “But the Lord is with me as a mighty awesome one.” We have someone on our side that is powerful. So let them look. Let em wait. With HIM on our side we will shine with His righteousness and His love and His grace.
Father, You are with me this day…help me not to stumble but help me to walk strong in Your grace and in Your goodness…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
