THE WORD FOR TODAY
Ezekiel 17-19 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Ezekiel 18:32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies, “ say the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”
The first verse of scripture I memorized as a fifth grader was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
We have seen lots of anger in the book of Ezekiel. But now we see the heart of God and we see very clearly that it is a heart of love. Israel’s wickedness had broken God’s heart. He didn’t want to punish them. He wanted to bless them. He didn’t want to send them into exile; His desire was that they prosper in the Promised Land. He said, “I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies…therefore turn and live.”
Every Christmas and Easter we celebrate the greatest expression of life in human history. We have awesome symbols of God’s love all around us and yet if we are not very careful we will take HIS love for granted and choose death over life.
I meet people all the time who choose death over life. They choose a party over the joy of knowing Him in all His fullness. They choose relationships that will falter and fail over a relationship that lasts forever with God. And yet God still calls through Christ and offers His love to all who would “turn and live”.
Father…thank you for loving us through your Son Jesus…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
