THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Samuel 13-15
1 Samuel 13-15
1 Samuel 15:10 10 Now the word of the LORD came to Samuel, saying, 11 “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the LORD all night.
I know you have heard of “buyer’s remorse”. You purchase a product and then immediately feel like it was a mistake. Sometimes you are able to return the product but other times you aren’t.
God regretted making Saul over Israel. Saul’s actions showed a complete lack of faithfulness and devotion to God’s call upon his life. He turned from following God and didn’t keep God’s commandment. Saul’s disobedience would drive Israel’s disobedience. For as the King goes…so goes the nation. Israel and Saul would pay a high price for their unfaithfulness.
The question comes to me, “Do I turn from following Christ?” “Do I fail to keep HIS commandments for my life and my walk?”
Sadly when I look in the mirror of my life I must confess to failures to follow HIM. I must confess to lack of obedience to HIS commands for my life. I don’t like that. I don’t like to admit that I am the bad guy but I am. I know that I am not alone.
Thank God we have grace…God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Thank God we serve a God who is rich in mercy and deep in love with us. Thank God the ground at the foot of the cross is level…where we all stand in NEED.
Father, forgive my faithlessness…forgive my stubbornness…cleanse my pride…wash my iniquities…transform my life for YOU…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
