THE WORD FOR TODAY
 
Deuteronomy 7:7-8
7 The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
 
My wife and I have been married for 30 years.  I am so grateful for her love and companionship and her counsel…she is wonderful.  There was a huge turning point in our marriage for me.  It was at about the 12 year mark when I started traveling with my military training.  I feared I would come home to chaos…but no…I came home to a place where my wife had everything in order.  She had in such order that I though, “Why does she need me?”
 
I discovered that she had everything in order because she “loved me”.  And because she loved me…she chose me to be her husband.  That was an incredible moment in my life.
 
Israel was being told why God chose them above all the nations around them…it wasn’t that they were great in number…but it was because, “…the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers…”
 
Every person who claims the name of Christ can live with this great assurance…God loves you.  His love and His power delivered Israel from bondage and gave them a home.  His love and His power deliver us from bondage to sin and gives us a home with Him forever.  I am so glad that He loves us and that love was displayed on the Cross of Calvary.
 
Father, I embrace your love for me…hold me close to you and help me as I walk in this world…strengthen me in weakness…lift me up when I would fall…and pour your spirit into my heart so that I may serve you…In Jesus Name!!!
