THE WORD FOR TODAY
Deuteronomy 30:15-16  “See I set before you today life and good, death and evil in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
I am not a fan of restaurants that have 10 page menus.  All the choices get me confused because I want to order what is going to satisfy me.  But more times than not I will order my food and what my companions have ordered looks more appetizing.
 
Israel had a menu before them.  One page of the menu:  life and good.  One the other page of the menu: death and evil.  Life and good was tied to their commitment to and love for God.  It was predicated on their continued obedience to His commands and walking in His ways.  Death and evil…well that is what would happen for them to disobey God.
 
When God sent His Son into the world as a sacrifice for salvation to all who would believe He set a two page menu before us.  One page:  Abundant Life.  The second page:  A life destroyed by evil.
 
I am so blessed by abundant life in Christ.  No book, no teaching, no charismatic individual can make me hunger what they have to offer.  I read the words of life in Scripture everyday of my life.  I am glad I choose abundant life in Christ.  I am glad Jesus, God’s only Son, gives me abundant life.  I am happy that HE keeps His promises.
 
Father, in a world confused by choices You make the choice simple…life or death.  I thank you for life in Christ.  I praise for joy of knowing that my life is in your hands.  Now Lord help us as we walk in YOU in this world…IN JESUS NAME…AMEN!!!
