Truth for Today
Isaiah 55:11 1 Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come, And My righteousness to be revealed. Lot’s of people use lot of empty words. Words spew out, but so often they mean nothing.
Why is doing the right thing so difficult? You know what I mean. The right thing is to drive the speed limit. Yet I find myself justifying driving 5 miles over the limit. The right thing is to turn off the TV and spend time with God. But I find myself pulled to the “new shows” of the fall TV season. The right thing is to witness to that lost person for whom I have been praying. But then I find myself busy and can’t get to that important task. The right thing is the guard my heart and my mind to keep it pure. But then I find my mind invaded with temptation and weakness.
Am I the only one who has a challenge with doing the right thing?
Isaiah challenges us, “Keep justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come, And My righteousness to be revealed. Lot’s of people use lot of empty words. Words spew out, but so often they mean nothing.” The first part of that verse is compelling, “Keep justice, and do righteousness…”
There is a call to do the right thing in this passage. But that is difficult when our righteousness is as “filthy rags”.
We can do the right thing only through a RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with Christ. A surrendered life to HIM is required to do the right thing.
We can do the right thing only through a RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with each other. To often love…mercy…grace…forgiveness do not temper the way we live with each other.
We can do the right thing only through a RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with others. I am sitting on a letter to someone with whom I disagree. But you know I want to do and say the right thing them while at the same time confront an issue that needs to be confronted. I will not send that letter until the right time. I don’t like having enemies. I am uncomfortable with having someone dislike me. My conduct…my walk…my relationship with others should always honor Christ.
Believers are able to “keep justice and do righteousness” because they have the single greatest power in life behind them…the power of the Holy Spirit of God.
KEEP JUSTICE…and DO RIGHTEOUSNESS!!!
Father, help me to do RIGHT today…walk with me and strengthen me by Your Might Spirit…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
