THE WORD FOR TODAY
1 Chronicles 19-21 1 Chronicles 19-21 1 Chronicles 19:3 3 And the princes of the people of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Did his servants not come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?” Paranoia >> Paranoia is an unfounded or exaggerated distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions. Paranoid individuals constantly suspect the motives of those around them, and believe that certain individuals, or people in general, are "out to get them." (Source answers.com) This definition fits the people of Ammon. Hanun rejected a simple gesture of kindness from David because of paranoia exaggerated by “the princes of the people of Ammon”. They believed that David’s intentions toward Ammon were not honorable and that belief ultimately led to acts of shame toward David’s servants. Paranoia makes people do weird things. Not everyone who does “acts of kindness” have ulterior motives. There are many acts of kindness rendered to us that are just that, “An Act of Kindness”. Rather than be filled with paranoia let’s just be thankful that someone said a kind word to us. Be thankful for the kind act given from someone who cares. Father, I thank You for the many acts of kindness in word and deed done toward me over the years…thank You Lord…and help me to render forward to other’s even more acts of kindness…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William
