THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalms 10-12 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Psalm 11:7 7 For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.
Today’s verse is incredibly convicting. It hits me in the heart. It stomps on my toes. It slams into my knuckles. It is convicting.
The Psalmist declares, “For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance behold the upright.” God has and will always do right by people and He loves righteousness in the lives of His people.
If anyone ought to live “righteous lives” it should be believers. Maybe you heard the joke…a really a sad joke. Do you know the only two places Baptists won’t speak to each other…The liquor store and the casino? Hahahahahahaha…well not so haha because it ain’t funny…it ain’t right!
God loves “righteousness” in the lives of believers. It must be said that there is NO…get it NO…zero…nada…NO righteousness in our own flesh.
Our righteousness flows from a living relationship with Jesus. His righteousness coming alive in my heart causes me to confess my sins and shortcomings and in repentance come broken before HIM. His righteousness forgives my transgressions. His righteousness enables me to grow in right living with God and my neighbor.
Lord, show me when I walk wrong in this world…show me when I speak sinfully in this world…show me so that I may turn to YOU in repentance and faith…forgive my trespasses…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
