THE WORD FOR TODAY
Psalm 28-30 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Psalm 30:11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
I stood beside the grave of a dear friend, Pete Milam, just barely two weeks ago. I remember hearing taps and just feeling the grief shoot through my body. Even though I knew that Pete is in heaven I still grieve.
Losing people we love causes us to grieve.
The Psalmist knew something about pain and grief. He knew how to mourn…to hurt at the loss of people he loved. But he also knew something that helps us…God has a wonderful way of “turning our mourning into dancing” and “clothing us with gladness”. We may never dance the same way…in fact we won’t. We may dance better than we ever danced because of the gladness of heart from God. We might dance with a limp that reminds us that life is fragile and should be treated with utmost care.
Today you may be grieving the loss of a loved one. It may be the anniversary of their death. I pray that God will transform your mourning into dancing and that HE will cloth you with HIS gladness. Doesn’t mean the sadness and grief has disappeared but it does mean that “greater is HE that is in you” than the pain that is wrecking your soul.
Lord, turn our mourning into dancing and cloth us with YOUR gladness…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
