THE WORD FOR TODAY
Nahum 1-3 Nahum 1-3 (Click to Read Today’s Word at Biblegateway.com) Truth for Today Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. I have always been and still am afraid of tornadoes. Every time I read about the aftermath of a one I know that in just a manner of seconds homes, schools and lives were destroyed. Those who survived did so because they went into storm cellars. Their life was saved because of that stronghold. When the winds of life are their fiercest…we need a need a stronghold. Nahum said, “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble.” We can understand that when we consider the oppression that people lived under day in and day out. They needed a message of hope and justice. They needed to be assured that they had a place they could go to when the storm hit in full fury. That day of trouble can start with simple visit with the doctor. A letter in the mail can cause us to fall to our knees in bewilderment and uncertainty. The day of trouble can start with an accident that happens out of the blue. Often there is no way to brace ourselves or make the day of trouble any less painful. When the winds of life are their fiercest…we need a need a stronghold. But when trouble does call we can call on God. We can lay our trouble out before Him and know that HE has the end in view. The promise in scripture is that “all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, to them that are called according to HIS purpose”. This passage strengthens the promise that “He knows those who trust in Him”. Hear Nahum’s word again, “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.” Father, thank you for your faithfulness and your love which endures forever, please be our strength in the day of trouble and our comfort during the pain...IN JESUS NAME…AMEN!!! Blessings Brother William
