Truth for Today
Daniel 9:17 17 Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.
I hate dreary weather. Those days when it is wet, dark and cold are NO FUN for me. I love a bright blue beautiful sky even on a cold day. I love the way the SUN shines on those incredible days.
Daniel had seen a vision of darkness and destruction. The vision had caused him to turn toward God in prayer. Bad news and good news alike should cause us to turn toward God. I love his heart’s desire in verse 17, “Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.” Daniel wanted God’s face to shine on HIS sanctuary.
God’s face shines on HIS sanctuary when we sing our sacrifices of praise to HIM. I know God inhabits the praises of hearts that desperately seek HIS face. I know He loves the sound of song because HE has given us the gift of song.
God’s face shines on HIS sanctuary when HIS servants sacrifice with a loving heart. I believe God’s face shines when our service is marked by a love for God and a love for our neighbor. Serve Him O Saints of God with a heart that loves God and loves each other.
God’s faces shines on HIS sanctuary when we share His love in generosity. If you are reading this devotion and you are a believer you have been given stewardship of the greatest message ever told…the message of the good news of God’s Salvation through Jesus Christ our LORD. That message is not to be hoarded in our hearts but shared with people as we go through this world. I believe God is ready to unleash HIS blessings on a Church who shares the good news as they go through this world. What good is good news if it is never shared?
I read recently of a “dark prediction” for Church growth in America. That may be. We may experience a decline in “church membership roles”. But we DO NOT have to experience a decline in the shining of God’s face on HIS sanctuary. May our prayer be like that of Daniel, “Cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.”
Father, shine You face in the dwelling place of our heart this day…shine in our heart Lord Jesus…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
