THE WORD FOR TODAY
Ezra 7-10 (Click to read Today’s Word)
Ezra 8:17 And I gave them a command for Iddo the chief man at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say to Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim at the place Casiphia—that they should bring us servants for the house of our God.
I enjoy coming to worship. From one Sunday to the next something amazing happens. Carpets are vacuumed. Discarded bulletins are thrown away. Hymn books are arranged. Flowers are placed at the altar. Dust disappears. God’s house seems to be in order. It’s in order because of servants, people behind the scenes after the noise of worship has dwindled these people come in to do the heavy work.
Ezra was bringing sweeping reforms to Israel after the Exile. As those reforms came together he needed servants for the house of God. God’s house needs servants to minister in His name. God calls people to do the heavy work of ministry.
I thank God for the servants in my church. There are so MANY things that just happen and I don’t see it but I see the fruit of their hard work. I know God’s servants are doing HIS work. Some of those servants receive this daily devotion. Thank you for serving the LORD and HIS house. Thank you for making sure meetings run smoothly. Thank you for a clean house of worship. The children’s ministry works because of selfless saints willing to love children. Teachers are prepared to bring the truth of God’s Word to every waiting heart. Thank you for what you do to make our worship even more meaningful.
Do you know someone serving in your church? Have you thanked them lately? Take the time to drop them a note and say, “Thanks for all you do for the Lord’s house.”
We have been blessed by servants in Your church who touch our live in powerful ways…thank You for their love for You and dedication to working in YOUR kingdom…grant them their sure reward…In Jesus Name…AMEN!!!
